Bridget Watson Payne is an editor, writer, and artist. For over twenty years she collaborated with hundreds of authors and artists at independent publisher Chronicle Books to make their book ideas a beautiful reality—now she works with publishers and authors as a freelance editor and creative consultant. With a background in illustrated books, she specializes in working on books with pictures for adults: art books, longform text accompanied by images, and products such as journals and card decks. Her categories include nonfiction such as creativity, self-help, nature, pop-culture, and lifestyle; and art and visual culture, including: fine art, photography, illustration, graphic design, art history, fashion, interiors, architecture, illustrated gift books, inspirational, and how-to and instructional. She has worked with Lonely Planet, Taschen, Clarkson Potter, The Collective Book Studio, Girl Friday, and Hardie Grant, among others. She is the author of eight books and has taught and spoken extensively. She lives in San Francisco with her family.
